A Note from Oliver's Foster Mom...
"Oliver Twist and I are overwhelmed and grateful for the outpouring of love and financial support. I never dreamed that so many people would care about this little orphan and want to contribute to his care.
Oliver continues to thrive and grow a rusty stubble of hair. His legs and throat are mostly covered with a soft peach fuzz, and there is some growth along his spine and the top of his head. His chest, shoulders and ribcage areas remain a gray elephant-skin. He still gets his twice-weekly baths with the special shampoo, and I am still scraping off tiny scabs from mange bites. Oliver eats almost double the kibble my 28-lb cocker gets in one day, and is still hungry. I think he's gaining weight, at least the wrinkles are smoothing out: his skin no longer hangs on him in wrinkles. We are now fighting a recurrance of his eye and ear infections, but the vet said to expect that. He said he would be surprised if the yeast on Oliver's skin DIDN'T migrate back to those areas. Luckily, Oliver tolerates the medicines well.
As you can see from the photos, Oliver loves his toys, thanks to those that sent him care packages! He also is grateful for the delightful assortment of coats and sweaters that were donated. We have needed them not only for warmth, but to prevent toenails from digging into fragile skin when he scratches.
His favorite thing to do though, is to snuggle: in bed at night, in my overstuffed chair when I'm reading a book, or on the sofa in front of the tv. We are headed that direction now!
We are tentatively planning to attend the Rockville adoption show (Feb 25) if people would like to come by to meet him. He still won't be available for adoption at that point, but we will be heading back to the vet around then to check his progress, have a skin scraping done and find out when the vet thinks he might be able to be neutered and have his cherry eyes repaired."

Thanks to Kathi and to all of you who continue to rally behind Oliver!
